ok, so it works...but your method is good too, thanks for your feedbacki had to use it years ago, and got next day replacement.... now i just replace my keys every couple of years to keep them fresh
It's like an air bag in the car, it's good to have, but better, if you never need itI have it on my main iLok, but haven't had to use it (knock on wood).
I'm in hell over it right now. Luckily all my stuff was backed up in the cloud. You have to pay about 80 bucks for a new key and it takes about 2 weeks. AND the "temp" licenses are only good for two weeks from what I understand. You are really just better off buying a new key and transferring them over me thinks.Hello everyone,
does anyone here have experiences with the "zero downtime option" from I lok?
Does it work in an emergency case?
Thanks for sharing experiences

Not sure I can answer all of your questions. As far as the cloud goes, it's just happenstance that I can tell. All I know is I'm really happy that it's there. As far as how often, in the future, it will indeed be every couple of years for me, I don't want to go through this again. My ilok 2 stick is probably at least 10 years old. I'm plenty pissed that ZDT only allows people 2 weeks. FFS, it's going to take them more time than that to get it sortedHow did you all your stuff backed up in the cloud ?
I understood that you have your UADx plugins either in the cloud OR on an Ilok stick. I know, there are 2 licenses per plug-in, I use them both, one on a laptop with cloud authorization and the other one in my main studio (which is usually not connected to the Internet)...... here I use the ILok stick. I thought, if the stick is broken, the licenses on it are lost... (hence zero downtime to easy recreate them). Isn't that the case?
AND:
It is difficult to "calculate" which method (zero downtime or profilactically keep buying new I-Lok sticks) is the best.
How often should you change the Stick, every year, every 2 or 3 years? When will it break? Mostly in the stupidest moment....
Would you rather pay 30 bucks a year and if something crashes, another 80, or, say every 2 years 50 bucks and if the ilk Stick crashes, then another 50 for a new one and a lot of stress, because i think the process for reactivate your licenses from each manufacturer per Mail/Phone is laborious.
It's certainly also important whether you work for customers, have deadlines etc, or whether you can "simply" interrupt your work...

Buying Zero Downtime from iLok?
Well, there you go then! I didn't know that.iLok Cloud | PACE Anti-Piracy
An iLok Cloud is part of the PACE licensing platform. It can be used to activate licenses, as an alternate to a physical iLok (or the host).paceap.com
Thank you, I have known this from the beginning but it makes you "lose" one of the activations of each product.Well, there you go then! I didn't know that.
