So, the odd question. A few sharp eyes a while back noticed UA had registered a trademark for Cyclosonic and there was a suspicion that it would see the light of day at some point. Was Softube working on it all along during that same time?

Welcome to the UAD v9.3 Official Q&A with GK!

Hey there, Gannon. Is the new RMX16 updated with anything beyond the new custom programs?

Thanks for being here and always excited to try out the new plugins!

Hey Matt!

That's a good question - I don't know the exact sequence of events, but I'm sure there was some overlap in timing. How much, I'm not sure!

Hey Jonschmitz,

There are 9 new programs in RMX16 Expanded, but the functionality is identical to the RMX16. Note that when you get v9.3, there are now two versions - RMX16 and RMX16 Expanded. They use different plug-in IDs so presets and session compatibility are maintained, but you can't load Expanded presets into the original and vice versa.

Definitely check it out though because the new programs widen the palette substantially.

I don't know if you guys were around when the RMX16 was in production, but I was and the studio I worked at had the barcode reader and extra sheet. Amazing technology (when it worked!).

Cheers!

Thanks for the info, Gannon. I will definitely pick it up and check it out. Between the great upgrade price and my unused coupon, it's a no-brainer.

Gannon, when I look at the UAD website the Savage 120 shows a price of $99.00 is that because I own other BX Amp sims?

Hi Jjssn,

Yes - if you own ANY Engl amp, it is discounted to $99.

Cheers!

Nice to see UA designing plugins again Gannon. I have a lot of delays now but I'm going to definitely check out the SDD which as you may know is Daniel Lanois favorite go to the grave delay.

Hi Aesthete,

The SDD-3000 is really amazing! And, we spent a lot of time getting it to match the hardware, warts and all.

I had never used it before we started this release and got my feet wet working on the videos and sound examples for the product pages.

It is so different from any other delay and we Unison-enabled the preamp, so you can plug a guitar straight into it with the HI-Z input on Apollo and get that super plucky sound, especially if you use the rough end of a nylon pick.

I'm a fan. ;)

Can't wait to test drive the SDD.

Would be great to see the Korg GR-1 Spring verb next :D I have the hardware and I love it to bits, so different than the AKG!

Still no enlarged or scalable GUIs for the Precision series limiter and multicomp etc? Even inexpensive plugins like the excellent Klanghelm fx and processors have them. How difficult can it be to provide them as updates for expensive plugins like UAD?

Come on, please...

Hi Magnus,

Sorry - not in this release, but GUI updates are in the plan. It will take some time to work through the catalog, but we are trying to get more out the door faster.

Thanks for your patience.

Speaking of plugging a guitar into hi-z of Apollo with the SDD-3000 - would be real nice to turn some midi controller physical knobs with guitar in hand and dial in those cool delay sounds while playing. Any hint of console opening to midi control with this release? Or conversely if there is some technical reason why you cannot integrate midi control with Console that would be good to know too. Probably the number one request for all UAD releases IMHO on this forum for each of these releases is to offer midi control. Cant blame a guy for asking.

Hi Sjgam,

I certainly don't blame you for asking! ;)

We definitely hear the request for MIDI - it is among the top feature requests, but there aren't any control updates in this release.

We'll get there, but it will take some time, so hang in there.

Cheers!
