    Thoughts on Kord SDD-3000? Savage?

Thinking of using that $50 coupon today. Playing around with SDD-3000 and tele in my unison slot and as aux and hoping to get into a U2 Joshua Tree kind of delay sound but between tweaking and presets didnt find that much lush useable delay I was hoping for. Lot of quirky sounds on presets which are not my thing. Sure human error on my part as it emulates the real thing- you guys liking it?

The Savage amp surprised me that clean and mild distortion sounded quite present and harmonic - not a metal guy - and at only $49 with coupon and as ENGL upgrade kind of tempting although I have most of the UAD amp sims and really have the Fender as my default and sometimes the Marshall's. You guys liking the Savage as an all-rounder (even though its got a metal slant)

    Decisions, decisions...

I played around with the Korg as well since I have a $50 and a $25 coupon. It didn't wow me enough to bite...

Agreed. I'm not a metal guy and I think some of the clean and slightly broken up tones are excellent. I didn't buy it yet because I already have the Fender, Marshall JMP 2203, and Ampeg B15n for those kinds of sounds but the Savage is definitely the one I'd tell someone to buy as their first UAD amp.

I purchased the Savage amp. I really liked the clean tones that it gave me. I felt I would more use out of it then the 3000.

At the asking price of the new UAD Korg plugin, I think I would rather just buy the new Korg pedal instead. I've increasingly come to this conclusion on most UAD plugins which are largely intended to be used in real-time and are in direct competition with their hardware counterparts. Why would I spend the money UAD is asking for some of these plugins when I can get a real piece of hardware in the same price ballpark?

I have wanted a high quality SDD 3000 emulation for years. Along with an AC30 it is one of the plugs I have been asking UA to produce. I used my $50 coupon toward the SDD 3000. I set up the delays and modulation myself and did not bother with the presets. I was able to dial in exactly the sound that I wanted and I am very pleased with it. I am not chasing the "U2 sound", so I do not know how successfully this can be achieved. The Savage is also on my "to get" list, but I needed the type of sound that the SDD 3000 can produce for a track that I am working on.

I can't comment on the SDD 3000 bu the Savage is awesome! If you demo it don't forget to mess with the FX rack. The PowerSoak output level is very important. especially when trying to obtain nice clean tones. With the right tweaking this amp can do almost everything. Also the Auto audition of the recording chains can be invaluable. Not just when monitoring while playing but also when trying to get a guitar track to sit correctly in your mix!

I actually have the re-issued pedal version of the SDD-3000 and I still bought the plugin. I find it easier to get the sounds I wanted, using the plugin. Also, the pedal version’s take on the iconic pre-amp circuit doesn’t sound as good to me, in my DAW, as the plugin.

I’m mostly paying for the convenience, at least in the recording process. I still use the pedal a great deal, when playing through an amp but when I’m recording, the plugin is very useful and well worth the $129 I paid for it.

Yes PLEASE!!! I also want a HW AC30 or AC15 plugin too. I use the Chandler and Fuchs ODS a great deal now...will probably get the Fender someday as well...but I really want an ACx.
