haha, i was going to post these same ones...Pete thorn replied to me and said he plans to make a video with higher gain...and Michael Nielsen said he was going to do more clips outside of the mix for his next comparison video.Matt Hepworth & Carl In this video he plays through a Friedman, which is a modded Marshall circuit. It's the only thing close I have seen so far.

(Playing starts around 5:17)
Then in this one he compares the OX with mics, Kemper, Suhr RL, Two Notes and Fryette, all using the Friedman again.

Pete Thorn did a quick driven Vox test and it sounded good.

These are the only demos I have seen so far that didn't sound like that bland Blues/Rock that your dentist plays on the weekends with his $10K PRS.

I've been wondering the same thing as have many of us. I think it's pretty short-sighted on their part. Marshall and other 50-100W amps are practically the whole reason for a device like this because you can't ever crank them in most situations. Even in a studio they are super loud, but at home you can play most Fender amps at a reasonable volume for short periods. A Marshall half stack? Not even past 1.5 on the volume! Thanks.
The lack of OX with Marshall demos gives the impression that the OX perhaps is mainly something for the Fender world and not for the Marshall/Celestion world. I wonder why UA haven't done any themselves?
I would love to hear some clips of the MesaI have hooked my Marshall DSL 40 with the OX 4-12 cabs and it sounds lovely turned up to 8 on the normal channel and 7 on the lead. I'm sure that any Marshall user will love cranking their 100w heads through the OX. It totally rocks!
Also worked with my Vox AC30 turned to about 5 with my Rickenbacker 360/12 and it sounds better than any record I have heard! Total chime! Also very sweet on the Vox AC10 for lead guitar. The Vox cab on the OX sounds a bit better than the actual amps!
I also tried my Mesa Boogie Mark IV on the 100w and 60w settings and the master was in about 5. Again, fantastic result great tone. Last I tried my gigging amp a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 3 and the speaker cabs on the OX made it sound better that the real amp speaker.
After playing guitar for 55 years I have never owned a better product than the OX. At $1299 it is a fantastic value for any serious player who wants to unleash their tube amp arsenal in the studio or on stage.
Hey kojack19, I have the Suhr Reactive Load currently and it's okay. Not in love with it, really. I'm thinking about the Ox, but presently it's a bit out of my budget. I'd have to sell a bunch of stuff. So my question for you is, how is the difference in sound quality between the two? Do you think it's worth the difference in price between the two? (Suhr RL $399, UAD OX $1299). How's the attenuator? I'd probably use that a fair amount since my main amp is a 90W Boogie Mark V.I have used the Ox with the following amps, 63 Fender Bassman, Fender Princeton Reverb, Friedman Smallbox and a Marshall Silver Jubilee 100 Watt head. I have used a few modellers, and a Suhr reactive load fairly extensively. While I was able to achieve good sounds with all, The Ox is just really easy to use and works with all of my amps. While there is always a chance that a certain amp does not work with a piece of gear, I would feel comfortable based on my experience saying that if there was an issue with a particular amp, that it would be an exception vs the rule. I got the Ox before the official release and have probably 50 hours of playing time with it thus far. Funny thing is, I would be willing to bet that less than 5% of that time was spent tweaking and the rest of it was just playing vs a very different percentage with other devices etc.
Thanks jimstonebreaker, amazing review!! Same for me, I also thought that I did not spend money on musical equipment in a better way.I have hooked my Marshall DSL 40 with the OX 4-12 cabs and it sounds lovely turned up to 8 on the normal channel and 7 on the lead. Hi Ryan, There is no question the OX is an expensive piece of gear so totally understand your issue. What I will say is that with the suhr and modellers, I just could never get things to sound just the way I wanted them to....I am not the most technically proficient person and I don't have a ton of recording experience so some of this I am sure is me...What I will say though is that I believe I have a very good ear and getting things to sound the way I want them to is very important to me. Getting that last 10% so to speak is a big deal and not having it annoys me. Others clearly have had success with other units but I just spent all my time tweaking this changing that, new IR here new IR there-buy this preset, make my own etc. For me and again this is just my opinion, I turned the ox on before we even had the software and the greenback preset in slot one was better than anything I had been able to get through another avenue. The software is amazing and the presets are really good-unlike most modellers I have tried where you flip through a ton and are lucky to find one great one. Again this is just my opinion. The tweaking, if I do any of it now, takes about 2 mins and is very intuitive. I also believe that the Ox has retained more natural feel while playing than the other avenues I have persued.Hey kojack19, I have the Suhr Reactive Load currently and it's okay. I've watched nearly every video on it but I figure since you have it yourself and aren't reviewing it to sell it, you could help me out also.
I don't think the Suhr and the Ox are on the same playing field to compare prices. But the differences you have to determine if they are worth the upcharge or something you even need. I have a Kemper and the Power STation 2 and i've been watching the Ox to see if i should sell one or both, but with the Suhr you only have one part of the equation...still need the cab sims/ir's (fx and attenuation, if used). Despite getting "ok" results from my PS 2 as a reactive load with IRs the process was clunky and frustrating. It's probably something i'm doing wrong, but between the lag and the monitoring issues i was having, the simplicity of the Ox would be nice...but it also has to sound definitively better (at all gain levels). Especially to get rid of the Kemper, i would have to put some money back in to tube amps as well.Hey kojack19, I have the Suhr Reactive Load currently and it's okay. I've been using the Suhr with Logic and Mainstage and either Torpedo Wall of Sound or Impulse plugins. I've had the OX for 2 1/2 weeks and sold the Suhr a couple of days ago. Actually, I was able to get just as good of tone with Suhr, but it's much more cumbersome, and as you note, the Suhr won't attenuate your real cab. The final tipping point was discovering the undocumented looper function in the OX, which makes it so easy and transparent to audition different cabs/mics/presets/ etc. I've concluded the OX is a luxury well worth the price.I don't think the Suhr and the Ox are on the same playing field to compare prices. To Kojack19's point, i'd also like to know whats in the future. More effects (could i share license if they add things like spring reverb, tape delays with the ones we might own on our UAD platform)? More Cabs? Any clever ways to record each mic to a separate channel (using all outputs...doubtful but )
