Hi everybody - I have put together a macOS helper app to assist LUNA upgrades, with particular emphasis on minimising the aftermath of software updates and reinstalls.
In essence it does take care of essential spring cleaning of critical subcomponents, and reveals some directories in Finder for optional additional cleanup of preferences or extensions.
What it does not do is a comprehensive uninstallation/cleaning as it is primarily designed to upgrade the application, not full removal. Still it can be used that way, with minimal work.
In either scenarios, it will leave your user data (sessions, presets) completely untouched so there is no risk of losing them. It will also not remove LUNA extensions - as those can be quite large, it is recommended to only remove those if you are experiencing issues with those specifically.
Usage Instructions:
1) after downloading, copy the utility to your hard drive, for example to the Universal Audio folder in Applications.
2) backup your active sessions in case you require downgrading at a later time - once opened with the latest LUNA version, you may not be able to open them again with an earlier version.
3) run ‘UAD Luna Cleaner’ and it will do the rest!
4) if you so desire, trash or backup the prefs (or old application/extensions)
5) if reinstalling/upgrading, do not forget to visit the 'Manage' tab in LUNA to redownload the subcomponents (it may or may not occur automatically).
Important: if this is the first time you run the app, you will need to control/right click it and choose 'open' in Finder’s contextual menu to be able to override Gatekeeper’s restrictions.
I hope you find it useful, here it is:
UAD Luna Cleaner (version 0.1.16)
The current version should support any Luna 1.1.x release. Let me know if you encounter any issues.
