Another new Simple Forces Song "One More Time"

    Hi guys,

I released a new Simple Forces song this week. I used the following UAD plugs (and plugs from other manufacturers):

SSL MKII on kick and snare
SSL MKII Bus comp on mixbus
    API Vision on Vocals
1176 Rev A and Pultec EQP on Bass (along with a parallel distortion channel using Raw)
    Ampex ATR on mixbus
    1073 MKII on guitars

Listen here if you get a chance and let me know what you think:
    Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/2jhKI...TICKx-XSpxOpAA
    Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/simpleforces/one-more-time
    Bandcamp: https://simpleforces.bandcamp.com/track/one-more-time

    Thanks for listening

    Chuck Cote from Simple Forces

Wow!!!! I LOVED it!!!!! This song hit me just in the right way.

Loved the openness and spaces you created.

    Melody was great

Loved the dynamics of the verse from the chorus.

    Bass playing was fantastic.

    Overall Sonics were great.

Song was reminiscent of early 80s British pop at times which I mean as a total compliment.

    Thanks for posting!!! Well done.

I liked it too. Good production and a genre I enjoy. Tell us a bit about the snare.

Thanks Matt! Glad you liked it. I just opened the project to see the snare... funny, now that I look at it, I forgot that I bypassed the SSL MKII after running out of DSP, and ended up transferring the settings over to Softube Console 1 SSL. Here is a little about the snare processing:

    - Muted snare bottom. For the top snare:
    - Started with the Studer in sync mode, 456, 15ips, cal of +6
    - Next, into Console One, SSL E. HP filtered 90hz. Boosted 160hz bell 7db. Cut 4.5 db at 500hz. Boosted 3k 7db. Boosted 7k bell 5db.
    - Added some saturation with the drive knob set to about 9
    - Didn't use the SSL comp. Did parallel comp instead.
    - Sent to an aux with a Native Instruments VC160 for smack.
    - Also sent to drum crush bus with 1176 black face all buttons in, fast attack, fast release
    - Much of the remaining snare comes from the overhead and room mics.

Great processing info. Did you try the VC160 against the UAD dbx 160? What is the actual snare used?

I don't think I can add anything more to what others have said. Great track and great production.
