    Optical SPDIF to ADAT?

I've got an optical SPDIF out on my motherboard which is sending out audio. I've got a TOSLINK cable here and plugged it the SPDIF, and then into the optical in on my Apollo Quad. Nothing is happening, is this simply because SPDIF optical is different than ADAT optical or is there some trick I have to do.

I was really hoping it would just show up as an ADAT 1/2 signal as the SPDIF can only carry 1 stereo signal.

ADAT and SPDIF are two different formats. You'll have to connect the optical SPDIF from your computer to the coax SPDIF on your Apollo using a SPDIF optical to coax converter, such as M-Audio CO2 Coaxial Optical Converter. This is the configuration I use in my setup and it works great.

    Found this in the manual

Reading this thread with interest as I'm going to try the same thing connecting a Presonus 1818 via Toslink to an Apollo Twin. I noticed the info below on page 27 of the hardware manual.
    (19) Optical In
This is a TOSLINK input for connection to other gear with an optical ADAT or S/PDIF
    output.
Note: The protocol to be used (ADAT or S/PDIF) is specified in the Interface panel
    of the Console Settings window.

Try checking your settings in Console. I'm guessing this is the problem.

Yes, you must switch it to S/PDIF from ADAT.

Except the Apollo Quad doesn't have this option. I just checked both manuals, only the Twin seems to support this!! The "switch" on the Interface Panel doesn't show up for the Apollo Quad.
