Installer not installing plugins, only UA monitor? Began after v9.5 failed drivers

I'm 8 hours into this nightmare. Hoping someone can help me out. I have a PCIe Duo and Quad in my DAW. Windows 7 64 bit. Was on v9.0 of the software. I applied v9.5 this evening as I always have. When it got to the driver install of the process, a dialogue popped up 7 times asking if I wanted the driver to be installed. I responded yes. At the end of the update install, I restarted. No UAD2 cards functioning. The message in the monitor was driver failed to installed. Device Manager showed Xs on the devices. I looked up the error on the UA site and found an article explaining to do a complete uninstall. I followed the directions, including deleting the pref files and going into Device Manager and uninstalling/deleting the driver for each device. Tried v9.5 again and same result. Uninstalled again. I tried V9.1, 9.2, 9.3 and 9.4 all with what looked like success and tried v9.5 again and everything failed. Tried v9.4 again after that and it kind of worked but I had the new Helios showing up. So I did a complete uninstall again following the steps and also removed the fragmented folders/files that were left behind -- it clearly isn't doing a complete, clean uninstall when telling the software to uninstall or using Remove Programs. Tried again with v9.4 since that kind of worked. The UA Monitor installed and the device drivers seemed to work ok, BUT... no plugins installed anywhere on my DAW. There's none. Ever since, any driver/update I've attempted from 8.0 - 9.4 all have the same result. Device Manager and UA Monitor show my authorizations and Quad/Duo properly, but there are no VST plugin files anywhere on my system.

I'm at a loss. It's like the plugins don't exist. I searched the entire drive. The installation process takes quite a while too, like it's writing a lot to the drive.

No idea what to do next. ???

Thanks in advance for anyone with suggestions. I've never had issues skipping versions before. The v9.5 installer seems to have really messed up my DAW.

Pull out all UAD Cards, start the PC de-install the UAD Software, delete the program files if still available after de-installing the software.
Search for other uad software in the "regedit" (search program regedit.exe)
Delete the rest of the uad files.

restart the PC.
After that install the Software, when finishing restart again.
Shutdown the PC, install the UAD Cards and start your PC, now all driver must be installed correctly and you UAD devices should pop up!

Thats how i made it!

Thanks. I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

Reporting back that this process appears to have worked in getting me back on the driver/software version I'd had stable. The unfortunate key to it though I think is regedit. Haven't had to do that for years. There were lots and lots of UA fragments in the registry. I haven't attempted applying the v9.5 update yet though. I'm going to make sure I have a reliable restore point and a copy of the stable registry this time before attempting it.

Still having issues with v9.5. It appears that all the updaters/installers work through v9.4 as long as my system is clean. v9.5 fails to successfully install the drivers. Anyone from UA care to chime in? Are there any logs I can view to get an idea of what's failing in your installer?

After a successful update to v9.4, I ran v9.5. When it got to the driver install portion of the process, it again prompted me 7 times asking if I wanted to install device drivers. Since I didn't have luck yesterday saying yes, I declined. The end result was a new error -- Mismatched Device Driver. Followed the "clean uninstall" instructions from the UA site after that. Ran v9.5 installer again, this time saying "yes." Then I was back to the original driver failed to install message.

After that, I rolled back to the v9.4 restore point and that seems stable as best I can tell at the moment.

I had downloaded a fresh copy of the v9.5 installer too before tonight's attempt. I'm assuming those 7 prompts to install the drivers shouldn't be coming up during the process. Can anyone confirm that??? I don't know what's wrong, especially since all the previous update/installer packages work fine on the system.

System is Win7 64 bit.

I just paid for plugins released in v9.5 and can't even install them.

I also experienced this on a Win 10 system. After the complete uninstall I found I still had to delete the registry references via regedit.

In the XP days I'd sometimes see what felt like a driver for each DSP, but I don't think I've seen that in nearly a decade now.

Yeah, had several re-boots before it finally woke up and installed correctly. Win10 64 bit. Something's not quite right with the installer...and on that note...

UA, the install process really take a long time between the download and then the install. You really need to take a look at finding some developers to improve that process.

My install stopped in the middle and said I needed to be an Administrator to install and it failed. It was strange because I am the Administrator. I just right clicked on the install (After a reboot of course) and ran it As Administrator and then it installed perfectly!

I am the Administrator too, but maybe I'll try that and run the install As Administrator. If it fails again, I dread cleaning up the registry yet again though. I might have to take the time to create a fresh disk image first rather than keep going through that pain.

I'm not happy others have had trouble too, but I am relieved to hear that the installer isn't running smoothly for some folks. I'm pretty sure it isn't a system issue in my DAW that's the problem. v9.4 installs flawlessly.

Have you tried running a chkdsk or whatever the equivalent is these days (I'm old, can you tell? heh) ... if you were on Mac I would say that it's possible filesystem issues or permissions issues for the enclosing folder, but no idea how to check that in windows (or if it's applicable).

Same issue here, Win 7 64.
Up to v9.4 all was and is fine, can`t get v9.5 installed properly (tried update and fresh install), the first time ever I see this oddity.
Some found a solution or had a reply from support ?

Same thing here on windows 7 64 with the prompts to install driver several times but it looks like everything installed properly. I Selected yes on all the prompts to install drivers.

Addition to previous post,
after 3 days of various attempts including given suggestions I give up.

On a side note,
I had the unusual message of install error because of an unsigned driver, disable of the driver check didn`t help.

Pretty dark situation:
those with this issue cannot demo or use the new releases plus the Helios preamp upgade discount is time limited ...

I would appreciate an UAD comment if it is recognized and what they are going to do in that regard.

Hi there. This is a user created forum, you’ll need to log an official support ticket with UA from the uaudio site. Cheers

Hi Dan, thanks for the hint.
I am aware of it and was "thinking loud" here to conceivably share what the support comes up with after a phone.
Others then may have an idea about the situation.
Let`s see if some good news coming up.

Ok, after the phone I had some technical hints but they did not changed the install situation on Win7
so in my books something`s wrong with the v9.5 installer (as of now) due to Win7.

On Win10 I had no issues with systeminternal defender off.

If no users are coming up with a Win7 solution I`d say a fix is needed and an extension of Helios discount period,
which I suggested on a mail after the UAD phone.

This sounds a ton like what I'm going through with 9.5 and Arrow and Win 10 64 bit. The difference is that I'm a total newbie. I got Arrow on Thursday of last week. The installation has been a total non-start. I'm intending to wipe 9.5 off the computer and DL 9.4, but where can I find it? (Later edit: I found it, thanks.)

Thanks in advance to anyone with any help.

The solution is to make sure all of the winodws updates have been installed. I did that and now uad v9.5 works on Windows 7 sp1 64 bit.
