Greetings,

2022 and This application is still being regularly updated

For the latest update info please look the the last post towards the end of this thread.

For Windows Only.

UAD1.jpg UAD2.jpg UAD3.jpg

What it does:

  • With a single click this tool will organise your UAD plugins into separate folders (which can be customised).
  • It supports all plugins past and future (You can add new plugins to the list in the .ini file).
  • Backs up your original plugins to a location of your choice
  • Mono plugins can be removed or moved
  • Novation Automap plugins will also be moved if they exist. (See [FILTERS])
  • UAD Mover is for Windows Only.

Example in Cubase 10.5:

C10.5.jpg

Preset folders are (these can be edited by you):

  • Bass
  • Channel
  • Delay
  • Dynamics
  • EQ
  • Guitar
  • Mic
  • Modulation
  • Pitch
  • Reverb
  • Saturation
  • Tools
  • Neve
  • Sonnox
  • Teletronics
  • Precision
  • UA

You can easily assign your own folder names to any plugin.

Full instructions are in the manual which is accessed after installation. Also you may see the post towards the end of this thread for the latest version info.

Cheers.

UAD Plugin Mover - Updated July 9, 2013

New version uploaded.

It is now much easier to add new plugins and assign them to folders.

Basically in the uadmove.ini file each plugin contains one line:

The plugin number in the list
The plugin name (no .dll)
The folder you wish that plugin to be moved to

Number=PLUGIN/FOLDER

For example:

Code:
48=UAD Roland RE-201/Modulation
49=UAD RS-1/Reverb
50=UAD SPL Transient Designer/Other
51=UAD VCA VU/Compressor
52=END
This means that you can now easily add new plugins and assign them to folders without having to type everything twice etc.

Old and new plugin path can now be the same. A local copy is made to work from which is then deleted.

Final update added filters for Novation Automap and ability to customise filters.

Filters:
You can add any extra "filters" to the uadmove.ini file
Filters are extensions that are added to the plugin name. For example "(m)" for the UAD mono
plugins. " (Automap)" for Novation Automap wrapped plugins (note the space before the bracket).
etc.
If the plugin name does not exist it will be skipped so don't worry about editing this unless you need
to add more filters.
  • Each filter must be spelled exactly as it appears after the plugin name.
    Each filter must be the next number in sequence.
    Make sure that "END" is the very last item in this list.

:)

1.05 Final:

Fixed problem with files not being copied. In Vista the new folders are created automatically. In XP it seems not.
Also added more accurate counter to display number of plugins copied and moved messages to be more appropriate.

This will be final release of this little tool.

Admin feel free to sticky if you think it is useful.

The link was down for about 6 minutes as I was just updating the application to 1.06 Final.

App now runs in elevated mode so that files can be successfully copied if UAC is active.
New link added to first post.

I don't get it... why do I need this? Not being snotty... just don't understand the benefits. Now if you told me I could organise the -display- of all plugs in Cubase? THAT would be something!

Depending on how your host displays large lists of VST plugins, going into your powered plugins folder and trying to find a particular plugin could mean a lot of scrolling/hunting before you find the plugin you want. Using these folders will cause a sub-menu to appear which should in theory allow you to find the plugins faster.

You can also use the same subfolder names that Steinberg uses within their program's "local" Vstplugins folder and they'll get merged in with existing ones. To do this, make sure you delete the "Powered Plugins" name as the destination folder (should just say "NewPlugins=" in the ini). That way, the new folders end up in the root of the main VST folder rather than inside another one.

Very useful Phil -Thanks!

Yes guys thanks.

The whole idea is to stop that HUGE list of plugins and break it up into manageable, viewable chunks.. I have been using this for a loooong time but only decided to release it to the public as a bit of a project. Part of doing that, means that the whole thing has to be customisable. That's why the ini file exists. You can choose pretty much any location, folder name and sub-folder names that you wish.

:)

I will post a screen shot in first post so you can see what I mean more clearly.

Yes mate it will work with any app that uses VSTPlugins folder. All it does is move the plugins to sub folders on your HD.

It's perfectly easy to do this manually but with all the UAD plugins it takes a long time. Once you have it set up in the ini file it's easy and fast and can be repeated any time.

Just a quickie, if you are using this, don't forget to add the new plugins to the ini file (remove the line with 52=END first):

Code:
52=UAD EL7 FATSO Jr/Compressor
53=UAD EL7 FATSO Sr/Compressor
54=UAD EMT 250/Reverb
55=UAD Neve 31102/EQ
56=UAD Neve 31102SE/EQ
57=END

I just did this Phil, thank you. One thing I am wondering about however which drove me nuts about your little app. It mentioned it does the mono plugins as well, but you failed to mention that it will not do this if the mono plugins are in a separate directory. By default the installer for the plugins puts all mono plugins in a MONO folder. I assumed this would be fine since the installer did this and not me. Running your little app however consistently skipped the mono plugs. I must have ran it 3-4 times before I manually copied the mono plugs right into the directory containing all the stereo versions and finally it worked. Perhaps a small addition to the readme is in store to help with further confusion?

BTW, it worked wonderfully with my automapped plugs however. Thanks a ton for this nifty little app.

Hi there Cantankerous,

Indeed that is my mistake. I don't actually use the mono plugins and it has been a long time since I installed them. I had completely forgotten that they get installed in a separate folder.

I will update the read me and also add the new plugs to the ini file while I'm at it.

Cheers,

:)
