I opened a ticket because I am having a problem with my headphone input which others have had the same problem. I opened the ticket a day ago and I now get message saying your ticket has been closed and a survey to rate the experience. I am new to UAD and I have had nothing but rave reviews to people I know but with this bs headphone input problem and this ticket closing I am wondering how this company will handle my warranty issue.

GK - What is going on here?

1st - Is the headphone jack an issue?
My Apollo Quad is expensive even though it is assembled outside of the US. Is there a known issue with the headphone jack? I want to send it in for service. So far Customer Service has not been very helpful with this matter.

Actually tens of thousands.........., but whose counting. :) I have not read about any known headphone jack problems. I have several Apollos and the headphone jacks all work fine.

Cheers,

I actually had both my headphone jacks go out. But that's after 1.5 years of road abuse. And I mean abuse. Both of the front "big" knobs are useless as well. Since it's not really built for the road, no complaints. Works out to about $6.80 per show. And it's now doing in my studio rack.

Did you get them fixed? Or do you just use the line out into a headphone amplifier?

If one of the big knobs goes out on the front you can still do all your changes via the console application right?

I don't use the Apollo for headphones in my studio. Just pre's and line in. And yes, the big knobs can easily be software controlled in console. Not worth the price of getting it fixed I suspect.

and I'll add. The big knobs broke from the front rack door hitting them while coming off the rack. Road abuse.

I will open a new ticket for sure. Just venting here LOL. I do now have a question. Seeing some of the posts thread make a reference to using the line out to a headphone monitor. Will one of the line outs TRS into a headphone amplifier be the correct way to accomplish improving on my overall HP monitoring experience. There is an ART HP amp with 6 channels that looks pretty cool. Is the setup as simple as TRS cable from line out into the unit? A newbie question I know.

I wanted to provide an update: I got a response today from Matt from UAD support on the ticket I submitted and instructions on the hardware reset. I followed the instructions and it has alleviated the problem.

I'd say no so 2 but doesn't really matter, 2-3 days is reasonable turnaround I would say, certainly way better than weeks !

It's all good. I get a sense that as big a company as UAD is and putting into perspective I believe UAD has a mom and pop feel to the customer service. Considering my ticket was responded to on a Saturday and the Matt followed up after I thanked him is a classy act. Nothing is perfect but I am very happy even though my post was a bit pissed off in tone. It's how companies deal with their customers after the initial purchase when there is a problem that counts. UAD scores high in this area in my opinion.

Now, can anyone recommend a headphone amp? I know now through this post that some of you use headphone amps and that makes great sense considering the channel can be eq'd a bit the overall signal will be stronger. I have been looking at the ART pro. It has a reasonable price point and is a rack mount which is important. It has 6 independent channels with an eq section. Anyone have experience with this unit or are using something similar?

Thanks

Just to clear , you use a line out from the Apollo? Is it just a signal from the Apollo or does something on the console have to be done as well. My simple understanding is that a stereo cable from the line out into the headphone amp and thats it. Sound right?

I'm in the same boat: trying to decide on a headphone amp. I am going to be checking out the headamp pro, as well as the Presonus HP60. (Or, the Hearback system if I suddenly inherit some money from some unknown uncle.)

But, maybe it would be better to start a new thread about headphone amps, rather than have the response info buried in a thread about support turnaround times.
