I'm happy to see somebody come to their senses on this whole thing but really battery life is all subjective to what you're doing on the MB so specs are all just mere indicators just like miles per gallon on a car... if you got a heavy foot you're not going to meet the mpg that's stated on the sticker and believe me I'm heavy footed so I never get the proclaimed battery life out of any laptop or battery powered device that they state. I myself love the new MacBooks but are they for me? NO!

Trashcan 2 is running fine and we just put it back into actual day to day usage. This is nearly two years after purchasing...

Out of curiosity was this a mid 2012-14 logic board? The model, I'm on my phone here (Android) so cumbersome to find it right now, I can't remember but it was a very serious issue which they should have done more, some folks never seen the window they'd opened to take the duff boards back to be replaced. Some simply lived so far from apple stores and relied on mail. A really bad problem and one that may have lay dormant and pfft the next day goodbye logic board.

If it was a (this specific problem) faulty VGA I didn't know it was an issue with the box you own. I'd two needed replaced. Took some bartering but they did replace one after printing out an official Apple thread somewhere in Apple forums to show the geniuses, I missed the window too but they did replace it. The other I had to bin (not literally) and buy another. The cost to replace and buy a new logic board made me realise "fk it, just but a new one" lol

For the record - not really directed to anyone, kat is right, the crown is slipping big time. Not meaning to sound like a dick. Specs is everything when it comes to a 2 grand piece of gear. Unless I'm mistaken these are marketed as professional work horses and they very much were. Now? For sure he's right in saying not much change than older models. I genuinely thought 32GB RAM would have been first port but nope lol. They just repackaged the same old with less haha. Tim Cook you're making Jobs laugh his ass off because you took his piss take road map seriously or he's turning in his grave! Either way someone is having a laugh. A 2 grand+ a pop laugh!

And kat I love cubase, it even has "pro" on the end haha... It must be pro! Yay I'm a pro

No, you're thinking of the 2011-2013 MacBook Pros with the video card recall.

Kcat and I were speaking of the "new Mac Pro" desktop (Trashcan). You know, their top of the line super "pro" machine.

Got my dates wrong. Definitely aging! Oops. It was that problem.

Is your older Mac Pro - we'll start laughing soon when Starbucks starts selling "Pro" coffee for $15 a cup!! Pro is the new buzzword... Ok.. lol...

But in all seriousness is your older Mac pro on par with the new ones?

    **edit**

A1289 <-- that is the model... or there and around! I just found a listing on eBay! Be wary of this model of logic board! NVIDIA VGA.

If you don't need the video upgrade that the trashcans offer the previous Mac Pros keep up really well. No Thunderbolt, though. USB 3 is a bit flaky with all the card versions I tried.

When it comes to a DAW, though, they're every bit as good and WAY more expandable.

For comparison, the 6 core trashcan has the capability of the average 8 core "classic" Mac Pro.

I think we have short memories when it comes to Apple computers and their first versions of them. The first Macbook Air was a real dog just not enough CPU power to run all it was trying to do. The first Retina Macbook Pro's GPU really struggled to push all of it's pixels and suffered from image tearing and performance issues.

    Yes, I consider this a V1.0.

First 15" with USB C. First 15" with Skylake processors. First with the Super Fancy Magic Toolbar. All these are big internal design changes. I'm not defending Apple here I'm just saying this isn't the first time they have had real issues with their V1 machines. I expect it's next iteration will be better. What I want to be? No, but better.

As far as Steve Job being better than Tim Cook. In some ways for sure but he sure had his moments. Remember Antenna Gate where he told everyone that the iPhone 4 was having reception problems because "Your holding it wrong"? Wow. Laugh.
