Come on UA...I gotsta use my coupons. How about a Unison Helios or V76...maybe some console updates.

Likely not until after the end of March... that's when my coupon expires. I hope they come up with something soon - I have been showing admirable restraint, purchase-wise.

A Gruesome Discovery

It feels like it's been a while since a new UA-developed plugin has come out, and it has! 126 days since Oxide. This is the longest gap between UA-developed releases since 2012 when 155 days elapsed between the MXR Flanger/Little Labs VOG and the 1176LN MKII.

P.S. I AM SO BORED AT WORK

API 2500, no?
I soooo wish this was true .... I bought the waves version cos I needed the plugin, shame on me, I know ..... I'd still get the UA version the day, if that day ever arrives, they released it .... At the moment tho, I'd rather have console 2 for FireWire ... Purely selfish but there you go lol

I could really go for the Helios unison idea, I love the way that little plugin sounds. An F760 compressor plugin would be ultra cool

Something big is coming in April. I promised secrecy, but I know it's not going to disappoint. If the API 2500 comes with it, it'll be the best UAD release to date.

I think Oxide was last. Anticipation ...

But is the Oxide not just a Studer A800 with fewer options emulation wise? So no new development, just different package?

No, it is not "a Studer with fewer options" --

You know, UA really kind of screwed-the-pooch when they rolled Oxide out because they made mention that they "used some of the same knowledge gained from modeling the Studer and the Ampex" when they made Oxide, so I think that immediately translated to people that "oh, it must just be a repackaged plugin".

It is it's own beast.

But but but but, there will be people who say "yeah, but it takes up the same CPU footprint as the Studer, so it's just the Studer with a different GUI". ::sigh::

And there are also people who will say "Kubrick was secretly paid by the CIA to fake the moon landing video!" - "jet fuel can't melt steel beams!" - " Most of our world leaders are lizard-people!" ... :p I could keep going...

oh well - just asking. I'm actually no conspiracy theory person. Not at all. I own both plugins but have not used them enough to actually tell, so i asked out of interest. And the CPU thing is at least a huge coincidence.

But, different tweaks could make a different beast and still facilitate the same engine - could it not!?

Just ::sigh:: and talking about the moon landing conspiracy (which I personally find funny at best) is no proof either.

...and I thought I was the only one who had worked this out.....
hahah :D

What analog machine is Oxide emulating?
UA says that it's not emulating any specific machine, but they do say that it is sonically between the Studer and the Ampex -- and in my experience (I own all three plugins, plus an actual hardware Studer A80 two-track), it sounds a little closer to the Ampex in the highs and reminds me quite a bit of the Otari and the MCI machines that I learned on. Sounds on the Oxide plugin change quite a bit by moving the few controls that are available… but they all sounds really good.
