New Technical Forum Guru for Universal Audio

Official UA Representative
Hi everyone,

Drew Mazurek here. I’m the new Technical Forum Guru for Universal Audio. I'll be your new “official” source for UA information on this forum — as well as providing an open ear for all your feedback.

My aim is to visit this forum every weekday (and likely some weekends as well-it’s hard to stay away!), and I’ll be here for extended periods during product launches.

So, a bit about me…

I’m a self-taught engineer whose teenage hobby morphed into a career. I started mixing professionally in 1988, and spent the ‘90s and early ‘00s making records in traditional studios with consoles and tape machines, before transitioning to DAWs in 2003 while working with Linkin Park. I first heard UAD plug-ins about 7 years ago, and I’ve been a faithful convert ever since.

About two years ago I became a Product Specialist for UA, visiting dealers and studios in the Mid Atlantic every month. I also teach audio engineering at The Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University. And most importantly, I continue making records every day and still love it.

UA is lucky to have such a great group of passionate, knowledgeable users manning this “unofficial” forum. I will undoubtedly lean on many of you (Matt, Dan, Don, Richard, etc.) for your vast experience, but I already feel at home.

A final note is that, while I will do my best to be as helpful as possible here, my goal isn’t to replace UA’s world-class Customer Support team solving specific customer issues. My goal here is to add value to the discussion, and answer questions on a broad range of technical topics and ideas.

I look forward to getting to know you, and helping you in your creative pursuits with UA.

Drew

Awesome. We're super fortunate to have Drew here in an "official" capacity! I've spoken with Drew multiple times to talk gear, techniques, and UAD and I really admire his work—plus he's just an awesome professional. Most of us have probably heard something he's worked on.

Drew, thanks for taking the reins! Stoked (that's still a word, right?) to get your insights, knowledge, experience, perspective, and lend your official UA presence to the board so regularly!

Definitely awesome to have you now officially on board. When ever I’m over at DUC looking for an answer to a pro tools issue, more than half the time the post with the wisdom and guidance has been none other than you Drew. I just put two and two together like last year that you are one and the same ;)

Congratulations! I see you teach at Peabody, you must be pretty local to where I am (Northern VA).

Congratulations and Welcome aboard Drew! Glad to have you here, it almost feels like getting a new Super in my Apartment building. But I'll spare you my list of things that need attention around here for a while and just let you get settled in! LOL
